Farm Strong Herky is representative of the hard-working farmers who make Iowa home. The University of Iowa and Haden Fry introduced ANF on the football helmet in 1985 to raise national awareness of the plight of farmers at that time. ANF continues to promote pride in farming in partnership with the Iowa Hawkeyes. This particular farmer is based on my grandfather who is a huge inspiration and a model of hard work and ingenuity inherent in the farmer’s life.
Matthew Kargol is a native of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and has a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Northern Iowa, and an M.F.A. from Clemson University. Matthew teaches art at Oskaloosa Senior High, serves as a community arts organizer and vice president for Fine Arts and Cultural Events of Mahaska County, and creates a wide range of art that is exhibited across the country. Matt also created the 2014 ANF Farmer Herky for Herky on Parade.

There are too many to narrow it down to one favorite. Riverside Casino & Golf Resort has been a long-time Hawkeyes supporter and season ticket holder. Our favorite recent memory, aside from watching the GOAT break the scoring record, has to be our involvement as presenting sponsor for the inaugural women’s wrestling Trailblazer Duals event. A new program means more Hawkeyes…which means more Hawkeye memories!
