This Herky is all about female empowerment and equality. On the Herky you’ll find silhouettes of female athletes participating in many different sports. You’ll also find positive affirmation statements, the main one being “I Belong”. Female athletes across the world face discrimination when it comes to sports and are shunned for being strong. The aim of this Herky is to show everyone that girls can not only participate in sports, but that they belong there. Anyone who wants to do any sport should be encouraged to participate. My hope is that girls feel empowered to reach for the dreams, no matter how nontraditional they may be, and dominate the playing field.
My name is Jayden Roth. I am a queer female artist who was born and raised in Iowa City and studied Art at the University of Iowa. I love to create everything from sketches and painting to resin art to mixed media sculptures and more. Currently I work in marketing and coach gymnastics at Iowa Gym-Nest. My goal in life is to make sure all my athletes feel safe and able to follow their dreams in whatever way they choose.
