“The Stanley Museum of Art brought 6 students together to reimagine the Herky statue, challenging them to draw inspiration from the museum’s collection.
Inspired by “”E,”” a renowned oil painting by Marsden Hartley that is part of the museum collection, the Hawkeyes reimagined their mascot. Their playful interpretation, aptly titled “”Herk-E,”” is a colorful symbol of both school spirit and artistic expression.”
Six student employees of the Stanley Museum of Art were selected for this project. From various academic years and disciplines, these students all share a strong connection to the museum and a vibrant artistic spirit.
