My favorite Hawkeye memory isn’t just one single moment. As a University of Iowa alumnae, I identify deeply with the tiger hawk logo and Herky the Hawk. Particularly when I’m traveling out of the immediate area and I see the tiger hawk logo or Herky making a special appearance. I feel a sense of calm, a sense of home, and sense of pride as a part of this great big organization. I can be thousands of miles away from home in a strange city and to see someone wearing the University of Iowa brand, it makes me smile and often, I strike up a conversation with my fellow Hawkeye.
