One of the great world traditions in musical ensembles is the British Style Brass Band, and one of the great bands of this style is located right here in Iowa! With the exception of the percussion section and certain trombones, all the instruments in this style of band are conical in design and produce full, resonant, beautiful and room-filling sound. The Iowa Brass (formerly the Eastern Iowa Brass Band) is based in Solon, IA and was founded in 1986 by Don and Judy Stein. Made up of all-volunteer, auditioned musicians, Iowa Brass competes all over the Midwest, regularly placing in the US Masters, and performs concerts year round, and hosts a brass band festival called Wurst Brass in Amana, IA each summer. The Iowa Brass Herky celebrates this world-class ensemble right in our own backyard. View Iowa Brass’s full schedule so you can “Hear it. See it. Feel it.” yourself at www.iowabrass.com
