Late one evening in 2011 as Herky was visiting a building on campus a wrong turn found him in an unmarked laboratory. Herky’s natural curiosity and upbeat personality found him accidentally knocking over a tube of green ooze while pumping his fist into the air. This ooze found its way into a tank containing a normal looking turtle. Herky of course cleaned up the mess and left the lab without a second thought. Little did Herky know this green ooze somehow combined his dna with that of the turtle and a mutant was created. Fast forward to 2024 this mutant herky/turtle is now a teenager and ready to hit the streets of Iowa City. TMNT Herky or Raphael Herky as he became affectionally known, after being spotted visiting Stanley Museum of Art. He likes to show off all his secret ninja skills he learned by thwarting would be bank robbers. Raphael Herky also enjoys trying all of the areas delicious pizza offerings and making sure the Iowa City area remains safe.
